A beautiful older Persian Bidjar rug, hand-knotted in wool on wool and made with the dense, heavy structure for which Bidjar rugs are well known. The light field appears almost like natural undyed wool, giving the rug a calm and open expression compared with many darker Persian pieces.

The design is centred around a classical Persian medallion, with blue, rose, brown and darker details adding depth and contrast. The drawing has a lively and personal character, combining the elegance of a traditional Persian composition with a more rustic handwoven charm.
