Persian Kashan, 138 x 200 cm

A refined Persian Kashan rug from the mid-20th century, woven with soft wool on a cotton foundation. The rug has a beautiful ivory field framed by a rich red floral border, giving it a lighter and more elegant character than many traditional Kashan rugs.

The design is classic Kashan: a central medallion surrounded by flowing floral ornaments, delicate palmettes, and graceful vine work. The wool is noticeably softer than on many later commercial Kashans, and the colors are clear and vibrant.  The rug is newly washed.

At 138 × 200 cm, this is a versatile size for a sitting area, study, bedroom, hallway space, or smaller apartment where a full 3-meter Persian rug would feel too dominant.
