Handwoven in wool on a sturdy cotton foundation, this Persian Kilim features a beautifully balanced palette of soft, pastel-inspired colors—peach, sage green, soft orange, dusty rose, and warm beige. The central field is arranged in rhythmic geometric motifs, framed by a multi-border design that gives the piece structure and harmony.

A characteristic detail in this kilim is the presence of a few dark, irregular color interruptions in the pattern. In tribal weaving traditions, these breaks can appear for several reasons: sometimes due to natural wool variations or dye batches, and other times intentionally added as a “flaw” or contrasting element meant to create visual interest or symbolically “release” perfect symmetry. In some weaving cultures, such deliberate imperfections are linked to beliefs about avoiding the evil eye or ensuring the piece remains “human”—not too perfect to anger the spirits.
