Caucasian Daghestani Kilim, 161 x 291 cm

This striking Caucasian kilim was personally sourced in Tbilisi, one of the historic trading centres for textiles from the Caucasus region. It reflects the bold geometric design language traditionally associated with Dagestan — architectural medallions, strong borders, and confident colour contrasts.

Measuring 161 x 291 cm, the composition is beautifully balanced. A deep madder-red field creates warmth and grounding, while the cool turquoise borders and graphic tribal motifs bring clarity and structure. The interplay between red, teal, charcoal and saffron tones gives the rug remarkable vibrancy without feeling chaotic.

Unlike modern decorative flatweaves, this kilim follows a traditional Caucasian design structure and is handwoven in wool on a cotton foundation. The weave has character and authenticity — subtle irregularities that reflect its handmade origin.
