Persian Tabriz Mahi – 200 × 310 cm** A finely knotted Persian Tabriz carpet in the classic Mahi design, featuring a large central medallion surrounded by the intricate *herati* or “fish” pattern for which these carpets are known. The deep brown-black field creates an elegant contrast with the ivory and warm beige medallion, corner sections and floral border.
Tonal variation can be seen across the lighter areas, where the colors move between warm beige, sand and cooler grey-beige. This variation has developed naturally over time and is also influenced by the direction of the pile and changing light.
It should not be expected to appear completely uniform from every angle; rather, it gives the carpet depth and the individual character of an older handmade piece. With a knot density of 50 raj, the carpet has the fine construction and precise drawing associated with good-quality Tabriz work.
